NORTHLAND FARMHOUSE - FOLLOW-UP EFFORTS

Close Window

Ultimately, the possibility of any follow-up efforts involving the structure itself have been erased with the demolition of the building. That's one of the most frustrating parts about this. I would love to make a return visit with better equipment and some additional investigators. But we did what we could, with the equipment we had, considering the short time we had left. That being said, there are still some follow-up efforts I would like to suggest. Not all of these will be pursued, but all of these will at least be considered by our group....

SURVEY THE NEW NEIGHBORS

The land that once surrounded the Northland Farmhouse was bought up over the past 25 years and houses and apartments were built on the land. If the reported paranormal activity at the farmhouse was centered on the land, and not specifically the farmhouse...it stands to reason that these new neighbors might be experiencing some paranormal activity. Surveying them by mail would probably be the least intrusive way to do so, and then recontact those that are willing to talk with us directly.

INVESTIGATE THE RUINS AND GROUNDS

I would like to get permission to return to the property and conduct an investigation of the ruins of the farmhouse and the surrounding grounds. Even assuming the farmhouse structure is 100% gone, if the paranormal activity was centered on the land and not specifically the farmhouse, then some interesting results and possible evidence might still be found there on the site.

RESEARCH THE HISTORY OF THE LAND AND FARMHOUSE

Besides the assertion my dad made when he was alive that the farmhouse was built on an old plantation, I have not gathered evidence that is the historical truth. It is local legend that several barns in the area are "slave-built" and there are old building foundations said to be the ruins of slave cabins, but we haven't done our historical research on these legends. How old is the farmhouse? What was on the land before the farmhouse? etc...

RESEARCH ALL PAST RESIDENTS OF THE FARMHOUSE

We know the dates that my family lived there, but other than that, we don't know the names and the dates-of-residence of all the other people who have lived at the farmhouse. I think we would learn a lot from looking into this, not only about the farmhouse but about how to conduct future historical research on other houses and buildings we are investigating.

RECONTACT WITNESSES TO GATHER DIRECT STATEMENTS

The Background & History section of this investigation report is based heavily on stories I gathered over the years from residents of the farmhouse. I don't know there names and I can't be 100% sure of my memories of their stories. The only way to ensure that we have accurate information would be to research their names, politely recontact them, and attempt to acquire first-hand statements from them about the paranormal activity they experienced at the farmhouse.

RE-ANALYZE THE AUDIO TAPES

I have gone through our audio tapes once. But I want to go through them again, more carefully this time. Why gather evidence if you aren't going to analyze it thoroughly? I'd like to have one more go at them with a fine tooth comb.
